My Dog Ate My Permission Slip

True story for my oldest girlie. Luna just tore up her signed slip. (I guess ate is the wrong word, maybe ruined instead.)

Perhaps it's better that way.

It was a permission slip allowing her to eat bugs at an assembly. (Did I really just sign that?)

So, this Seattle area bug chef, David George Gordon, will be coming to my girlie's school and they will have the opportunity to, yes, eat bugs.

Fascinating. And icky!

My oldest son will be so jealous. He's been wanting to eat bugs for years. I've caught him out in the yard trying to taste grasshoppers.

Beyond icky! Gross and disgusting! Are you sure she didn't feed the note to Luna?

Our puppy encouraged us to try out "My dog ate my book" on our local librarian. She graciously allowed us to pay for a new copy for them and let us add a gently worn copy of The Lightning Thief (missing the back cover) to our bookshelf.

Hope the bugs are tasty!

The funny thing is that I've never had a permission slip thrust into my face faster than this one. Each girlie whipped out the paper the second their foot hit the minivan carpet!

Feed me bugs, feed me bugs!

So, is she going to sneak into the crowd and try one anyway?

I've had that experience in China and they really aren't bad chargrilled!

I've never felt so much sympathy for a tarentula before... :(

In my country we eat bugs, especially herders who live in a dry environment, and are away from their communities months at a time. It is the only way they get the proteins they need.

Once ate a grilled grasshopper when I was kid (I was a daredevil back then).

On a side note, I love your dog and his/her protective instincts! :D

How will you top that at dinner time?

Ewww. What an experience. I think I have eaten enought bugs unintentionally in my life. I won't be going to that restaurant the next time I am in Seattle.

So, I did tape the slip together, so both daughters have permission. The big day is Monday. Can't wait to hear all about it (then tell you).

Thanks for all the comments!

Has David escaped again? I had hoped they would catch him and save him from himself. Jolie, ask Susi about her tarantula story. It involves midnight, filmy nightie, standing outside in the warm summer air, and feeling something on her thigh...

I came over here from the comment challenge link and I have to say that it is hard not to comment on an eating bug story. Is Girlie terribly disappointed? I think I'm jealous. I would love to eat bugs prepared by a prominent bug chef. Great post.

Wow! I bet the boys are all over that presentation!
My daughter and I made a clay totem pole for school, I stupidly left it on the kitchen table. Then I found it in my puppy's dog bed all in pieces! Aarrgh! So I told my daughter what fun it would be to do again! (and it turned out better the second time)

Wow, I shouldn't have watched that at lunchtime!

Why is it that kids will flock to eat some bugs, but I can't get my kid to put a vegetable past his lips to save my life? Can't wait to hear the update.

Whoa! Can't wait to hear more about this one! Do you get to go and watch this event?
