So, it's a day that I say goodbye to more than just a spot, or an office, because The Vault has become a friend. I will miss its great drip, yummy cookies, cushy chairs, the tall-skinny tables and the short-fat tables, but most of all I'll miss the people...especially the manager, Debra.
Many, many words have been produced and deleted and reworked right here. They've watched me walk in frazzled and happy and stressed and tired and over-joyed (and in every other state you can imagine, well...almost).
You know, this is where I was when I was offered representation from my agent. I'll never forget that day or where I was sitting or that I was sure that she sent the email to the wrong person. (Ha! That's a fun story I'll have to tell some day.)

So sorry to hear that. I hate to see little coffee shops, libraries and small businesses go out like a candle.
Hopefully you'll find another little retreat. When you do, let us know, so we can keep it in business :)
Sorry to hear your sad news. Wish those folks well. Hope you find a new place of warmth and inspiration, which will be there for you always. Time changes all things, even the good things.
Oh too bad! Why is it the good places fade away ?
Bummer. I'm glad you've gotten to share The Vault with us through your blog.
That's so sad. I love cozy coffee shops. Starbucks just keeps driving them all out of business. :(
When I lived in CO Springs there was a great coffee shop called Pikes Perk. Big comfy couches, cool vibe, I loved that place. I hope it's still there.
NOOOOOO. Ugh, I'm so sorry. I will come get you for latte days.
I'm always bummed when the unique places close. Guess you'll need to find a new office now.
No way, I didn't know. I too have sat there and done all manner of book related activities. Lattes are book related, right? You've tried Undertown? Also, the hole-in-the-wall just up from Aldrich's has fabulous coffee, but not a lot of sit-around space. Hmmm...
You will be greatly missed too my friend. Thanks for all of the laughs, insight, challenges, and the tears shared. You are a huge part of what made The Vault home for me. We will keep in touch and I promise to "write"!
Love & Hugs!!
Debra
Thanks, everyone. I'm exploring my possibilities and look forward to sharing with you.
Debra...I miss you too. The Vault was definitely a place I could sit back (all day long) and just be me...with no pressure. xoxo
