Today's the Day...Get Registered!

Not only does registration open for the 38th Annual SCBWI Summer Conference in L.A. today, but the new scbwi.org is unveiled. Go on...check it out. And while you're there, register for the conference.

According to the website, registation opens at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. Don't forget, if you want one to attend one of those Premium Workshops, you'll want to hit register the second the little hand hits the ten (get your atomic clock out so you're not a second too late).

Oh yah! Be sure to let me know if you'll be there.

Once, I registered for the draft, but all I got was war.

Then, I registered to vote, so there would be war no more.

All I got was hanging chads, causing chaos, bitterness, and strife.

Now, you ask me to register to write, is this right?

The pen they say is "mightier than the sword".

To write leads to human rights or
Just another rite to riot?

With pen in hand the writer caused the world to shudder.

What would be the end result?

A story, which on the mind, does register.

Remember, it is not a simple gathering of authors, but a gathering which leads to monumental events in the future, however far removed they seem from a simple meeting of authors.

Our budget doesn't stretch that far. :o(

A funny thing -- my word verification is "oleses". Seems perfect for Cinco de Mayo!

I'm registered, ticketed, reservationed (will try and coin this new word) and excited. I only joined SCBWI this March, so am new to the organization, though not new to writing.

I have been a closeted writer for years now, but have only recently had the courage to come out. I no longer lie and say, "Absolutely nothing!" when people ask me what I do. I've officially put myself out there.
