Crack Your W-I-P: Ticker Tuesday

Good afternoon, my beautiful bloggy friends. Can I just tell you, you look gorgeous today. I should tell you that more often. You know why you look so lovely (or handsome)? Because you are doing what you love, because you love it (even when you hate it). It makes you radiant (even those of you in your jammies).

So, how goes it? What's your ticker or progress looking like?

I'm at 7,406. I would like to be more impressed with myself, but 7 K is 7 K, right?

Today, for me, success will be 500 words.

Keep shining on!

Today it's a struggle to get TEN words on the page. I keep writing and rewriting the same damn paragraph! *sigh* It's because I'm so close to THE END. My inner critic will not accept anything but perfection. Can somebody please take her away?!

Jolie, put everyone's inner critic behind the brick, please.

I did 1,000 words this morning. Tough going, but I found another nice trick: I start by reading what I wrote the day before, and do very light polishing. This helps me remember what I wrote, and I'll end up with a slightly cleaner draft at the end. I almost always add detail, too, so it's like a running start for making the daily wc goal.

I read a book today, does that count? Because the rugrats barely let me do that today. :o)

My ticker says I'm up to 13,800 words, but I'm cheating because I had about 7k before I started Crack Your WIP with you.

I guess I'll just celebrate the little successes...

And 500 words sounds like a PERFECT goal for a day like today!

Well, I'm having kind of a bad hair day, but thanks. You look beautiful too!!

Nice to see your word count ticker is on the move. I am still working on revisions to chapter 8, but they are moving along much faster than chapter 7. =)

Just about any number of words per day is a good number of words. Keep up the good work!

I got quite a bit done this morning, and I think I'm going to hit my goal for the week. And that will be a first for the month. ;)

We're all making progress, right? Progress is good.

I was moaning and complaining when I was writing new scenes for novel #2, all the time longing for the time when I could revise! Ah! I live for revision; revision is so much easier; why couldn't I be revising already?

Well.

I am back to novel #1 and revising the Kahuna out of it. (Is that a real expression? ) and I need Novocaine. S-L-O-W and painful and so much second-guessing because I can't tell myself "Just get the words down, you get to edit later" because I am editing right now!

My hair looks lovely now that I've been pulling chunks out all morning. But you, you look radiant!

Jolie: I second Martha's suggestion. Put those nasty people behind the brick and let them have a go at one another.

Thanks for a place to vent.

737 words today. Woot woot. Tipped me over 8K.

Sherrie - I hearby tie your inner critic up and put duct tape over her loud mouth. Go for it, Sherrie. You're so close. You can always go back for the perfection piece!

Martha - smart girl! Inner critics behind the brick. Only, when I work at Under Town I might be distracted by mine and all of yours sitting back there, talking there nasty talk. And great suggestion about the reread. I guess I've been doing that but not counting the loveley new words I add. I am now!

Jackee - Don't you hate it when you feel bad for reading a book!?! I hope you enjoyed every second of it. And your rocking the WIP!

Laura - Your hair looks fine! And yay for a fast chapter 8. Chapter 9will go even faster.

Myrna - Yay! Success! Way to go.

Yat-Yee - Kahuna away! Let's all Kahuna the heck out of our work. Me likes. :)

Okay, after I bound and gagged her I managed to eke out 573 words. Yay!

Hi, Jolie! Today I wrote a little over 1,000 words. I often do what Martha mentioned: a quick polish for a little cleaning and to "get in the mood," then I jump in! Yesterday was S-L-O-W moving. Painfully slow. So I'm glad you asked today instead of yesterday. :) I'm having to do research as I go, so the amount of words I get out each day varies quite a bit.

I haven't added anything new for today, but that's about to change (in part because this just motivated me)!
